Team Badly Drawn Hyena is an expedition racing team headed for Adventure Racing World Champs (ARWC) on Reunion Island in November 2018. Help us to get there by donating towards our campaign while supporting wildlife conservation in Africa.

As a relatively young and unranked team, we want to show the world that you do not need to be a professional athlete to chase your dreams and that all you need is exceptional teamwork, a good plan and the determination to execute it with success. Thus we are calling on all those who believe in us to help us raise the funds required to get ourselves to the start line – we will take it from there and survive the full measure of suffering that the course has to dish out.

In support of Team Sanlam Painted Wolf as our official mentor team for ARWC 2018, we will donate 20% of all funds raised to the Carnivore Conservation Programme run by the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT-CCP). The EWT-CCP has made huge strides in Cheetah and Wild Dog conservation in South Africa and is recognised as a leader in the field of carnivore conservation. Hyena is next on the EWT-CCP’s list of targeted species for increases in resident range.
OUR STORY
One day four young people who love the wild places discovered that Adventure Racing World Champs (ARWC) was being hosted on Reunion Island in November this year. 400km+ of non-stop trekking, mountain biking, rope work, caving, paddling and packrafting on the most remote parts of an already wild island was certainly going to be the adventure of a lifetime!

They submitted their names, were granted an open entry and before they knew it ARWC 2018 had become this rookie team’s dream for 2018. Those four young people are us: Misty, Dylan, Damon and Guy.

With ARWC being a gruelling event where only a third of the world’s top teams ever finish the full course, we plan to turn those odds on their head and survive the full measure of suffering that the course has to dish out. As the only South African rookie team, we want to show the world that you do not need to be a professional athlete to chase your dreams and that all you need is a good plan and the determination to execute it with success.
